Bobby Copeland's B-Western Trivia Corner
Howdy, Welcome to my B-Western trivia page (courtesy of Joe Konnyu-CowboyPal.com). The purpose of this page is to remember our beloved B-Western performers (heroes, heavies, sidekicks and heroines). Your participated is wanted and encouraged, but please no A-Westerns, no TV-Westerns, no 'spaghetti' Westerns. Although this page will be primarily for trivia, other items will be posted - such as contacts for some film festivals, new publications, other Western sites, etc. I will also post items which I think may be interesting - including "Headlines from the past," and "On this date." Warning - some of the headlines may, or may not, show the B-Western performer in a positive light. I plead with you to remember that they, like us, were not perfect. Please scroll down for a list of my cowboy books for sale. A little about me before saddling up ... I have authored 16 books and some 150 B-Westerns articles for various magazines (including 'Western Clippings' and the British publication 'Wrangler's Roost'). In addition,  I have attended some sixty-five festivals and met many of the B-Western performers. I have been honored to receive several awards for my contributions in keeping alive the memories of the old Saturday matinee Westerns. With your help, we can continue to keep those memories alive.

May God bless us all, Bobby Copeland
"ON THIS DATE"
(Mar 11, 1916 ) - Evelyn Finely was born.
(Mar 10, 1898 ) Big Cy Kendall was born.
(Mar 9, ) Nothing Significant.
(Mar 8, 1909 ) - Big, old and ugly stuntman/actor Frank McCarrol was born.
(Mar 5, 1909 ) - Stuntman and actor Bob Woodward born.
(Mar 4, 1999 ) - Eddie Dean died.
(Mar 3, 1980 ) - Jay Silverheels died.

In the press book for the serial "Phantom Empire" Gene Autry's horse was listed as Pico.
Joel McCrea bought his first movie horse from Rex Bell.
In 1940 Republic planned a movie about the Lewis and Clark Expedition with Gene Autry and John Wayne to portray Lewis and Clark - and Roy Rogers as the scout. Too bad the movie was never made.
Monogram initially decided to call its series with Crash Corrigan, Max Terhune and Dusty King  "The Three Pals" before deciding on the name "The Range Busters".
Despite some biographers claim and Ken Maynard's too, that he was a world champion rodeo performer at the famous Penedlton, OR Rodeo in 1920 and winning an incredible amount of money - there is no record of Maynard winning a championship at Pendleton or at any other rodeo.
Despite Roy Rogers' statement of only having a handshake agreement with long time manager Art Rush. There is documented proof of a formal contract was initiated on May 22, 1941 and it lasted until Art Rush's death in 1989.
Although never reported in his bios, Bob Baker had an early marriage (before marrying Evelyn) and fathered a daughter.
