Filmed on location at the Texas Centennial in Dallas, this unusual Gene Autry outing finds him in a dual role: an egotistical film cowboy named Tom Ford and his good-natured stunt double (named, of course, Gene Autry). The fun starts when Ford is booked to appear at the Texas fair and Autry agrees to fill in for him. Advertised as a musical more than a western in order to broaden Gene Autry's appeal, this modern-day frontier drama finds singing radio star Autry being made an honorary sherrif during a visit to his Arizona hometown, then being called on to act the part when crooks disrupt the festivities. Ann Miller, Vera Vague, Gabby Hayes and Jimmy Durante, as Gene's announcer, co-star. Songs include "Call of the Canyon," "What Are Cowboys Made Of?" and the title tune. 84 min. Riders Of The Whistling Pines(1949) VHS
Gene Autry must salvage his reputation and clear his name after being wrongly accused of poisoning cattle by a ring of outlaws (Douglass Dumbrille, Damian O'Flynn and Clayton Moore) who are destroying the timberlands. 70 min. 
Beyond The Purple Hills(1950) VHS
Sheriff Gene Autry finds an old friend murdered and arrests the victim's son. But since the son is Wyatt Earp-to-be Hugh O'Brian (his film debut) Gene knows he can't be guilty and sets out to bring the real killer to justice. With Pat Buttram, Don Beddoe. 69 min. 
Mule Train(1950) VHS
Part of the Museum of Modern Art's permanent film collection, this Gene Autry rouser has our hero and sidekick Pat Buttram helping a pal keep a valuable cement claim from crooked businessman Robert Livingston. All this, and the title song, too! 69 min. 
The Gene Autry Show: Gold Dust Charlie(1950) VHS
When "Gold Dust Charlie" is discovered dead, Gene must find the killer; Autry and a jockey "Head for Texas" to find cattle rustlers ripping off a lady rancher; Gene looks into a series of stagecoach robberies in "The Doodle Bug"; and in "The Silver Arrow," Gene and Pat Buttram have to find the real culprit when another man is framed for a murder. Songs include "Cowboy Blues," "Sing Me a Song in My Saddle," "Ridin' Down the Canyon" and "Can't Shake the Sands of Texas from My Shoes." 120 min. 
The Gene Autry Show: The Double Switch(1950) VHS
Gene sets a slick trap for an underhanded saddle tramp staging phony hold-ups in "The Double Switch"; Gene becomes "The Star Toter," replacing a lawman who's gunned down by a robber; Gene and Pat Buttram try to aid an ex-con accused of a crime in "The Posse"; and Gene must clear a rancher's name and find the real person responsible for a murder in "Blackwater Valley Feud." Rim Of The Canyon(1951) VHS
Gene Autry in a double role: as the marshal who corrals a gang of crooks, and as his son, who must face the same gang years later. A thrill-packed ``change of pace'' Western. 70 min.
