Born - Barry De Acosta - 1/11/1912 - Houston, Tx
Died in Holywood Ca - 7/18/1980
College Football star went into show business performing on stage and got into movies in 1936 playing heavies. Played bit roles till 
 an outing in a John Wayne western in 1939 titled "Wyoming Outlaw" Donald Barry came to the attention of Repulic Pictures studio head Herbert J. Yates. Having secured the rights to the comic book hero "Red Ryder" , Yates talked a reluctant Don Barry into starring in a 
12 part serial titled "Adventures of Red Ryder" tagged him with a name change of Don "Red" Barry. After this sucess Don wanted no part of the redhead role and went to make twentry nine action features for Republic. Don in his personal life was married a number of times among his brides was one of his co-stars the lovely Peggy Stewart. Don stayed in show business made guest appearances in TV shows made for TV movies. Don had a fairly long career from late 30's to 80's. Tragically after a domestic disturbance in which the police were called. Don met the police answering disturbance call
by taking his life with his own gun.
