I must tell you that instead of the first Allan Rocky Lane and the first
Roy and Dale, I received both the first and second offerings of Rocky...This

because you may have an inventory count...Any chance of maybe some Johnny
Mack Brown's (later ones) and maybe ole Durango in the future???Joe, I
am very pleased and I thank you...You are an honorable man and it is a

Received the Roy Rogers DVD's & the Rocky Lane DVD's today and I could
not have made a better investment in making the purchase of your offered
DVD's. The picture quality, sound and color (where available) made the
very reasonable price well worth the wait. I would encourage anyone who
loved the old B Westerns to invest in these offers and based on what I
received, you will never go wrong. Thanks to these disk's, my 7 hour

you continue to make these offers available and I would hope all Cowboy

Hope I'm not too
late for this one! I love the Tim Holt series, and his performance in "Mosnster
That Challenged The World" makes that film a real "guilty pleasure"! (I've
even forgiven him for "The Yesterday Machine"!)
The answer for Tim
Holt is that he rode many horses, one main horse prior to his serving our
Country, and several afterward. In the early forties, Tim rode "Duke".
When Lietenant Holt returned to films, he rode "Sheik", "Lightnoing", and
"Sundance". Chito is a different story. The only name could supply
for his horse is "Paco".

He said he was paided-off so Leonard Slye could use his name. I recall

He played a bunch

Perhaps the inquirer is thinking of the first Charles Starrett Durango
Kid movie called "The Durango Kid." In this movie, it is Bob Nolan (not
Jimmy Wakely) who briefly dons the Durango outfit to fool the outlaws.
Wakely would have been much too small to fool anyone.
My question for
you ... What made you think the mask was yellow since all the Starrett's
were shot in black and white?

Let's add to confusion
or perhaps clarify it. We can disregard the color yellow unless it
was used on a lobby card or a poster since all Starrett's were B&W.
There was a film that had Starrett switiching masks but he was not the
Durango Kid. This was "Robin Hood of the Range" which also included
Jimmy Wakely in the cast. He did not switch masks with Wakely but
with Stanley Brown who portrayed Santana, an outlaw out to protect the
people from the greedy railroad company.

The film is B/W. There is a cave. John and a little boy are around
a campfire in the cave. Bad guys (or maybe the sheriff) enter and the boy
hides. The lead guy has a rifle on John. I know that this is very
little info, but, if any of Wayne's fans can help me out with the film's
title, I'll be able to send Tony a copy of the film... it would positively
make him the happiest man in the world.

From: RPITT
Sent: Thursday,

Jack and Al were
half brothers. Let's see if I can get this straight. Jack,
the oldest, was the son of Bart and Matilda Hoxie. Bart was killed
by a kick from a horse. Matilda later married Scott Stone and Jack
took the name John F. Stone. Alton Stone was the youngest of the
Stone children. Over the years of wrangling, circus', and whatever,
John changed his name back to Jack Hoxie and later entered the movie business.
He also served in the service during WW1. After becoming a popular
western actor, Jack got Alton Stone into the business, later changing his
name to Al Hoxie because of the popularity of the Hoxie name.
Quite a story, THE
HOXIE BOYS by Edgar M. Wyatt.

Need your help finding
a movie from my youth. I don't remember the actors or the title, but the
plot centered around the location of crosses that would ultimately lead
to a treasure. The ultimate plot twist was when the characters realized
that by standing in a "cross position" in a rock opening with the sun behind
them they would become the missing cross. Their shadow on the canyon wall
was the key to the treasure. Great storyline!!!
I know I saw this
in the movies. Probably in the 50's.
I hope you can help

BUT we will never forget how good he may his costars look.He was always

They then show his first Mono release on 07/13/30. It was called
The Lone Rider. And the production company was Sol Lesser Prod.

I came across your
web site regarding horses seen in movies and I
was wondering if
you might know what breed of horse Napolean, the horse Barry Fitzgerald

or maybe a draft x thoroughbred but I can't tell for sure.
Any help would be

Dear Cowboy Pal.
I'm searching for
information about James Warren, (deceased) an old cowboy/movie actor of
the nineteen forties and fifties. I would truly love to get connected with
someone who knows his history from A to Z. I have his movie history, and
information about some of his artistic ability. What I would like now is
more personal information. Mr. Warren's first wife was Named Felice and
lived in Newport Beach, CA. until her death. I understand there was a second
wife who lived with him in Maui Hawaii. I am seeking any information you
might have about second wife: occupation; name; age; is she still living?;
Where does she live?; if dead, where did she die?; did she and James have
children?; etc.
Thanks for this
information.
