NATIONAL AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE MONTH WITH

 SIX-GUN SALUTE TO JAY SILVERHEELS

 

 

Englewood, Colo., November 12, 2002 – November on the Westerns Channel showcases Jay “Tonto” Silverheels with a marathon on Saturday, November 30 beginning at 8:00 a.m. featuring feature films and episodes from the classic “The Lone Ranger” series co-starring Clayton Moore as the benevolent masked man.

 

Born on a Canadian reservation to a Mohawk chief, Silverheels was a star lacrosse player and boxer before entering films as a stuntman. November is National American Indian Heritage Month and Westerns is pleased to present a “Six-Gun Salute” to Jay Silverheels.

 

Schedule For The Jay Silverheels Marathon:

 

·         Brave Warrior  (8:00 a.m.) An Indian chief helps a government agent prevent an uprising.  The film stars Silverheels, Jon Hall and Michael Ansara.

·         The Lone Ranger (9:15 a.m.) Features the classic series starring Jay Silverheels and The Lone Ranger Clayton Moore.

·         The Pathfinder (9:40 a.m.) Writer James Fenimore Cooper’s story about Indian and French attacks on Americans during the 1750’s.  The film stars Silverheels and George Montgomery.

·         The Lone Ranger  (11:05 a.m.) - Features the classic series starring Jay Silverheels and The Lone Ranger Clayton Moore.

·         Last of the Comanches (11:35 a.m.) – A cavalry sergeant leads soldiers, civilians and an Indian on a desert trek.  The film stars Silverheels, Broderick Crawford and Barbara Hale.

·         The Lone Ranger  (1:10 p.m.) - Features the classic series starring Jay Silverheels and The Lone Ranger Clayton Moore.

·         Jack McCall, Desperado  (1:40 p.m.) – A vengeful Southerner (George Montgomery) captures the man who framed him as a Civil War spy.  The film co-stars Silverheels and Douglas Kennedy.

·         The Lone Ranger  (3:00 p.m.) - Features the classic series starring Jay Silverheels and The Lone Ranger Clayton Moore.

·         The Nebraskan  (3:30 p.m.) - An Army scout’s Indian sidekick (Silverheels) is accused of killing a chief.

·         The Lone Ranger  (4:40 p.m.) - Features the classic series starring Jay Silverheels and The Lone Ranger Clayton Moore.

·         Masterson of Kansas  (5:05 p.m.) – Bat Masterson hooks up with Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp with six-guns blazing.  Directed by “the master of gimmickry” William Castle.
